Over the past weekend, a real battle took place on the ice of the Yagry Island Bay in the Arkhangelsk Region: the Ice Battle 2026 Underwater Fishing Tournament.
This regionally significant event broke all records of popularity! 451 teams had previously registered, so there were a huge number of people on the ice. With the first rays of the sun, the active fishing of navaga began. The fishermen noted that the catches were dominated by young fish (16-16.5 cm), which, according to the rules of the tournament, were carefully returned to the water. The peak of the fishing activity occurred from early morning until lunchtime.
The day culminated with the weighing of the catches and the announcement of the results. The intrigue remained until the very end, as only about 500 grams of fish were required to qualify for the top 30. "Ice Battle" is a grand celebration that brings together a huge number of winter fishing enthusiasts.
